I'm Bobby, lead author and editor at Codewalkers, where I write about AI agents, coding tools, software development, and the latest trends in AI. I got into programming through early web development and Visual Basic, and over two decades I've shipped with React, TypeScript, Python, Swift, and Rails.
The long way round
For a good stretch I moved away from the editor and into product and management, running remote, globally distributed teams at fast-growing startups across the U.S. and Australia. The work covered product, customer success, and engineering, and most of it was helping other people ship. I learned a lot, and I missed building.
Back to the tools
So I moved back into a hands-on role. These are exciting times, arguably one of the most disruptive periods in human history, and I wanted to be close to the tools. These days I build every day, test new tools as they come out, keep track of what they cost and save, and write up what works.
Off the clock
I'm originally from Australia. I met my wife working for a U.S. startup, and these days we split our time between the two countries, mostly chasing summer and dodging winters. The one exception is Christmas. Snow at Christmas makes it a bit more magical for the kids.
What I write about
Most of my published work is at Codewalkers, a publication for developers covering AI agents, coding tools, and software development, with getting-started guides, tool comparisons, and news. The aim is to help developers and founders understand what these tools can do and how to use them well. This site is where I keep longer, rougher working notes as I experiment.
